Peacock Technology is an innovative Engineering Design company based in Stirling. Our supportive team of 20 people includes highly trained and qualified engineers in Electronics, Mechanical Design and Software who are keen to share their experience and knowledge. We are now looking to recruit an Embedded Software Engineering placement student to join our engineering team over the summer months and help us create new and leading solutions to tomorrow’s problems.
We work on a wide range of exciting projects across many different industries. Recent projects have included designing an electronic medical device for cancer testing, a robot for allergy testing, a control system for coating the largest optical telescope mirror in the world (in Chile), a pedometer for cows to improve animal welfare, a lock that can be controlled by a mobile phone, a robot system for vaccinating fish, and a Time of Flight camera. These products will potentially make a real difference to users.

Duration: 3 months

Each project is new and different. We need a diversity of skills and experience to meet our clients’ needs. You will work with all members of the Engineering team and will have opportunities to learn about electronics, mechanical design and software. Your role in the team will be primarily in supporting the experienced engineers to build and test the products we are designing. The languages we use are primarily C and C++. We have weekly team meetings where you will hear about what team members are working on and you will report on what you have been doing.
We welcome applications from students in 2nd year or above with some experience and from a variety of backgrounds. The successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for Engineering and learning how things work, and will have an interest in programming embedded devices.
The role is based at our offices in Stirling.
At least 2 years undergraduate study in an engineering discipline
On track for a 2:1 or first class Honours Degree
Any electronics hardware
